This is an excellent example of the reforestation that is being done by some landowners, You will note that the trees are in rows and patterns as a result of being hand-planted to a pre-defined pattern. This provides a manageable single-species forest which is ideal for production of telephone/electricity poles. The stand is thinned as required and lower branches removed to promote straight growth. The main drawback is that a single-species project such as this is particularly susceptible to any species-specific disease or parasite, which can spread quickly among trees in such a tight proximity. The local municipality provides a much lower realty tax assessment for such land use, as is dictated by provincial regulations covering any registered forest preserve land use.
