Tureborg Castle (Swedish: Tureborgen) is a faux-medieval mock castle, built in 1899 by the wealthy journalist and politician Ture Malmgren. Malmgren was inspired by the castles of the Rhine Valley in Germany, and constructed the building of his dreams on top of the hill above his home, Villa Elfkullen. The castle fell into disrepair after his death in 1922, and was burnt to the ground in 1950. The ruins are still there, a beautiful testament to the visions of an eccentric man, and one of Uddevalla's most popular sights.
