Power Block (Vancouver)

Canada / British Columbia / Vancouver / Granville Street, 819
 building, nonresidential building

This building site is currently being redeveloped into a new 5-storey building with 2 floors of retail space, 3 floors of office space plus 2 levels of underground parking.

The Power Block was originally built in 1888 as a saloon for Captain William Power of Port Moody with the Art Deco facade being added later in 1929. The facade has been designated by the City of Vancouver as heritage status B and therefore will be saved from demolition.

The adjacent circa-1922 building at 720 Robson Street isn't listed on the Vancouver Heritage Register and is slated for demolition.
