Dunmere was a 13 acre site owned by Robert G Dun (of Dun and Bradstreet fame). The property contained several major structures, including a man made lake. It was called the "Show place of the pier". The main house, originally located at the south end of the estate, was destroyed by fire and replaced with a modern structure . The grand entrance gate remains, as does the gate house and stables which have been converted to residential use.
