Pendleton Heights High School opened in August 1969, a consolidated high school of the South Madison Community School Corporation, with Principal Ernest E. Miller at the helm. Previously, the school corporaton was served by two high schools, Markleville High School and Pendleton High School. The school expanded its size with a remodeling and renovation project in 1996, adding a new academic wing and media center, an auditorium and performing arts center, and an auxiliary gymnasium. Pendleton Heights High School currently serves 1,154 students in grades 9 through 12.
