The Warner Bros. mill is the largest set construction complex in the motion picture industry. It was completed in 1936 (after a 1934 lot fire destroyed the existing construction buildings). The studio decided it would be safer and more efficient to concentrate construction in a single facility.

It covers over 5 acres with 130,000 square feet of construction space. It also includes a furniture repair shop, electrical shop, repair shop, foundry, tin shop, carpenter shop, bicycle repair shop (bicycles are the chief mode of transportation on the lot), tool sharpening, die casting, upholstery0, sheet metal, plumbing, glass, welding, signs paint, and many other shops and facilities.
