The Barnhouse was originally part of the 'Sion Hill House' complex. When Sion Hill house had a working Farm (Upton Grange,) and was 'L' shaped and approx twice the size it is now. The barns were shown on the 1838 Tythe map and were converted some time later, around 1900.
