Itacaranha is a neighborhood in the 'Suburbio Ferroviario' of Salvador. It goes from the beach until the heights near Mirantes de Periperi. It is vivided into in two parts by the Suburbana-avenue. From the beach you have beautiful sunsets over the Bay of All Saints, and from the higher areas beautiful views over the bay. Right next to it lies the very small neighborhood of Escada where is located the first stone church of the state of Bahia. It is situated on a hill above the bay, right on the place where the Dutch forces under the leadership of Maurice of Nassau arrived to take Salvador from the Portuguese, in which they were succesful during one year.
