Matiyali is a educational hub of the area where the present day Inter College is located.Matiyali Junior High School (up to 7th std) was established during 1904 on the land donated by a very renowned personality of village Bhelda. The school was later on upgraded to Junior High School (up to 8th std). The prominent personalities of the area, mainly Shri Sohan Singh Rawat of Village Bhalgaon, Shri Sudama Ram Suyal of village Sirain, and many other dignitaries of the area including ex students of the school were very keen to see the school upgradation to High School Std. The school was upgraded to High School std during 1960 when first batch of 9th std (private) was raised. Maximum credit for this achievement without any reservation goes to Shri Sohan Singh Rawat. This year, the school had Shri Kripal Singh Rawat of village Bamoli, Shri Makundi Lal Badola of Village Thangar and Shri Chandra Mani Kukreti of Village Mooni as the first team of teachers . During 1961, Shri Pitambar Deorani joined as the first Principal of the School and Shri Jagdish Singh Rawat as the Mathematics teaacher. It was due to untiring efforts of this team of the Principal and Teachers that the first batch achieved wonderful results in final high school examination in which they had appeared as private candidates from UP Board. The School was then recognised by the State Education Board. During the later years, the alround efforts made by the Teaching Staff, The School Management and the local personalities , the school was upgraded to Intermediate std and subsequently made a Government Intermediate College. The School celebrated 100 years of its existence during 2004.

  • GIC, Matiyali is a long standing/prehistoric college in the Dadamandi/Kandakhal region, where I had also passed inter in 1987. In this era, Mr Parandhiyal, an english lecturer, was the Principal. The college is one of the best education oriented institution in the region, where thousand of thousand people have received their education. I am from vill-Banali. Although, vill Banali is far-flung from college, but I had realy enjoyed in this college. Thanks to our teacher/lecturer, who have given us best of best education and for this blessing, I am serving the nation in Assam Rifles as Jounior Commissioned Officer(Clerk). Thanks.
  • It's nice to see the GIS Matiyali and comments from ex students. I have also studied from GIC Matiyali in the year 1983. That time I have to travel from my Village (Diyusa) to College 16 kms to and fro daily. I never absent from school. The teachers and Principal were dedicated. Students were also dedicated toward their studies and respect their teachers. The college gave me Best student award twice (Once in Xth class and Secondly in XII class respectively. By the blessings of our teachers I am doing job in Central Government Institution. Manny -Manny thanks GIC Matiyali.....

  • Lovely that you have read my small write up about Matiyali Inter College.I wish to add that I had the honour of attending centenary celebrations of the school during 2004 where the grand personalities : Shri Pitambar Deorani, Shri Chandra Mani Kukreti and Shri Jagdish Singh Rawat were the stars attraction : were ready to bless us. Lord Almighty! Bless them also - whereever THEY are. "LTree" may I know your name please. I shall interact with you,whenever possible.
  • I would like to add here (to answer a query) that Shri Pitambar Deorani retired as Principal GIC Lohaghat (Pithoragarh) and he was settled in his ancestral property at Lalpani (Kotdwara), doing social work in educational and cultural fields. He left for his heavenly abode few years ago. As for other teachers of my time, Shri Chandra Mani Kukrety is settled in Matiyali itself and Shri Makundi Lal Badola in Uttarkashi. He has also proceeded to his heavenly abode. Shri Jagdish Singh Rawat is struggling hard to spread cultural heritage of Garhwal in Uttarakhand. I hope, I have answered the query. Thanks.
