This building, designed by architects Morgan Walls & Clements, was built for young, single film stars working in the movies. It was designated a city landmark on October 16, 1990. In the 1930s, one famous resident was actress Mary Martin, who lived in this building with her young son Larry Hagman. Mary used to walk to the Roosevelt Hotel to sing in the Cinegrill night club, both of which are still there to this day. The famous TV psychic "Mr. Criswell" lived in the building in the penthouse during the early 1950s. B-film director Ed Wood was a frequent guest.
