Kirkenes radarstation; former NATO Early warning/Airdefence/Surveillance radarsite near Kirkenes airport was one of the closest to the Soviet border. Deactivated in 2000 as a NATO EW site it currently is part of the NSA/Echelon signal intelligence gathering organisation and linked up to Vardø.
