The former Bank Of America Center was built in 1967. At 23 stories and a height of 304 feet, it stood as the tallest building in Hampton Roads for 20 years until the completion of Dominion Tower just down the street.
The building housed a succession of different banks until 2016, when it was converted into luxury apartments and renamed Icon Norfolk. The tower, along with the parking garage to the north, are listed together on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
