Ex RAF base. Handed over to German Airforce in 1968. The already standing RAF Special Ammo Storage was modernized by US Army as GAF used the base for one of their Surface-to-Surface Missile Wings equipped with Pershing 1A missiles. The- then Army Group Level SAS- was under command of 2 ATAF. Site supervision: 557th US Army Arty Grp. Site security: 85th US Army Arty Det. SAS still standing but non-ops.
