July 2012: At least 23 people were feared killed while 50 other were hospitalised when people suspected to be mercenaries stormed seven Berom villages of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State in what an eyewitness described as a cordinated attack.

LEADERSHIP-SUNDAY investigations revealed that the attack was carried out in Gashish district of Barkin Ladi LGA.

Villages attacked include Kakuruk, Kuzen Ngyo, Kogoduk, Ruk and Dogo that were said to have come under heavy military like gunfire. The suspected gunmen were said to have been dressed in bullet-proof vests and army camouflage.
