CUNY Queens College

USA / New York / Saddle Rock /

Queens College is a CUNY school founded in 1937 that is located in Flushing, Queens. The school was first opened in nine former Spanish Mission-style buildings designed c. 1908 by C.B.J. Snyder as the New York Parental School which was a year-round boarding school for truant students focused on discipline and industrial training. After investigations into its severe punishments, the school closed in 1934. Six of the nine original buildings remain intact.

It is widely known as a liberal arts college, but does offer degrees in over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs for it's student body of nearly 20,000. In 2006, Queens College was ranked the 8th best value in the United States by The Princeton Review. It was named one of the "25 Hottest Universities" in 2008 by Newsweek. Most students commute from Queens or Nassau County.
