Loch of the Lowes is a nature reserve managed by Scottish Wildlife Trust. The reserve is open every day, though the visitor centre (charges apply) and shop opens weekends only during the winter. Free car park and access from minor road at west end of loch. Various hides (binoculars provided) and remote cameras and a popular bird feeding / viewing area. Path connection round south west of loch conects to Dunkeld paths network. Ranger service and events programme.
One of the first places osprey (fish-eating hawk) returned to breed in Britain after being persecuted to extinction. Famous for the annual return of 'Lady' a 30+ year old female osprey.
