fault (geology), town hall, historical layer / disappeared object
A modern five-story City Hall was built on this site in 1967-68.
After completion, it was discovered that was directly on top of the Hayward fault, and was unsafe. The building was mostly vacated after 1992, except for a small city jail in the basement, and was completely demolished in 2004.
