park, monument, fountain, interesting place
Playboy James Scott died in 1910 and left $500,000 to construct this fountain with his statue at its pinacle.
Many urged the city to refuse the gift because of Scott's questionable lifestyle. The fountain was designed by noted architect Cass Gilbert who also designed Detroit's main library and NYC's Woolworth Building. It was dedicated in 1925 with Scott's statue hidden in the rear.
