Banas is a River now cut into pieces as Lake due to encroaching habitat in Barpeta Road city. It is beautifully laid parallel to the west of Barpeta Rd - Manas Road and stretched from North to South with a superb semi-spherical shape.
The Lake is crossed by 5 different road across and made it into 6 pieces of Lakes. the Northern & Southern most Lakes are mostly in danger as Concrete building are being erected upon it. the Middle one (Lake No.3 from north) having the statue of Bishnu-Jyoti Statue is fenced and maintained somehow but apart from erecting a statue of Rabindranath Tagore at the Lake No. 4, the others are sincerely neglected with polluted water with hyacinths and garbage.
If all the 6 Lakes are properly fenced, gardened and maintained; then barpeta Rd will be the most nicely decorated city of Lower Assam.
And Our full & Final Demand is-
Rename Barpeta Road as "Banas". What is your view?
