Eastmere Training Village

United Kingdom / England / Necton /

An 'artificial village' built by the Army for infantry training, in the Stanford Training Area in the field of FiBUA (Fighting in Built-up Areas). Eastmere was originally built to give soldiers experience of fighting on the northern European plains. The claim on the sign (see photo) to its being "twinned" with Alton Towers & Dunkirk is clearly an example of army humour rather than a statement of fact.
