Denman Island

Canada / British Columbia / Cumberland /

Idyllic and pastoral, Denman Island is a sleepy, low-key place, favoured by retired people and, now less commonly, young families wishing to live "one remove" off the beaten track. It was formerly the haunt of true back-to-the-landers in the 1960's until the end of the 20th century, but skyrocketing land prices have subsequently altered the demographics of the island toward the old and the wealthy.
