  • I believe this is the location of Sam Patch's fatal plunge. He leaped for a paying audience, usually into rivers directly below waterfalls like Niagara and Passaic, but also from ship's masts and bridges. By the time of his Rochester jump his boozing had ruined his health and timing. He died in front of several thousand onlookers.
