Historic Gothic Revival-style house dating originally to 1860, with an addition in 1920 It was the headquarters of General Alfred Pleasonton, commander of cavalry for the Army of the Potomac, in the fall of 1863. Several photographs were taken of the castle during its time as cavalry headquarters. Also known as Melrose Castle, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
