Little Beaver State Park, originally a lake built on donated land through community cooperation for the nearby 4-H camp to utilize. It was acquired by the State of West Virginia some time later, and expanded in the mid 1970s through Right of Emanate Domain. The expansion was designed to create an extensive campground and trails system for hikers. Al thought in the past 37 years there have been little or no milestones of note. Over that time a few instances of conflict have arisen with the remaining residents still surrounding the area and park staff. There still seems to be a genuine atmosphere of mistrust and resentment in the surrounding community toward the state and it’s employees that can only be attributed to the means by which the state acquired the additional property. The future of this site is still a question mark in the minds of many who visit.
