Farook College has been at the forefront of community development and social progress among minorities in the backward region of Malabar in Kerala ever since its inception in 1948. It is one of the best Arts & Science colleges in Kerala with more than 15 Post Graduate courses and several research departments to its credit. It was presented the R Shankar Award for the Best College in Kerala three times by the Kerala Govt. It has also been accredited at Five Star level (A+ Grade) by the NAAC, Bangalore and was recognised by the UGC, New Delhi as a College with Potential for Excellence (one among the Six from Kerala). Farook College was awarded the Moulana Abdul Kalam Award for the Best Minority Educational Centre in South India for the year 2005.
The college is run by the Roulathul Uloom Trust, which also runs several other educational institutions in the same campus and elsewhere. These include Farook Institute of Management Studies, Farook Training College, Farook College of Teacher Education, Rouzathul Uloom Arabic college, PM Institute of Civil Services, Al-Farook Educational Centre, Al-Farook Residential School, Farook Higher Secondary School, etc. to name just a few. The college also proudly boasts of a well-equipped Language Lab, a fully furnished Central library (the best of its kind among colleges under Calicut university), an Informatics Centre, Web Development Centre, Statistical Computing Lab, and a fully-equipped Local Area Network which connects all the departments and divisions of the college and provides high bandwidth Broadband Internet Access to teachers, scholars and students alike.
Farook College never tires in its crusade for the career advancement of its students as well as the overall upliftment of the society as has been exemplified by the several programmes taken up by the college like the Career Guidance Centre, Minority Coaching Cell, Childline, Traumacare unit, etc. The Ford Foundation, USA is an active collaborator in these activities. We still think there is a longer route to traverse before we can rest on our laurels.
