The medieval Armenian fortress on the slopes of Mount Gavazan to the west of nowday's Gazakh district of Azerbaijan, to the north-west of the village Abbasbeyli. Before our time the remains of the fortress walls. "Gavazan" in Armenian language means "Pikestaff" as mount Gavazan is standing tall and resemples a pikestaff. Since the 1936 this lands were attached to Azerbaijani SSR by separation from Armenian SSR, according to claim of "brotherly Turkey" to USSR. In Soviet Azerbaijan this fortress and mount called Goyazan to liken this Armenian toponym under Turkic transcription.
