Ganga Chu is a narrow channel of water that flows from Manasarovar to Rakas Tal. It is assumed that when there is flow in this channel (which normally is not supposed to be) it is a good year. It is also believed that when water flows in this channel it is observed as intercourse of the two lakes, Manasarovar being of Masculine gender. The myth of this channel is of two golden fish fighting in Manasarovar, one of which was driven away by the other, thus cutting the channel.

  • This is actually the Satluj river in its infancy. It rises in the mountains east of Myum La which is to the east of Manasarvoar goes through that lake and then through Rakas Tal and emerges at Tirthapuri a mountain away. Where there is a gompa celeberating its emergence.
