The bird hills nature area is wild. The bluff overlooking the Huron River is steep, and occasional landslides here have been a hazard
since the Michigan Central railroad first built the grade that now serves as Huron river Drive. The small spring-fed stream that flows
north through the area is host to a variety of small wildlife, and the area has long been used by science classes at the adjacent junior
highschool.
