hot spring, interesting place
A beautiful termas/spa facility built along a long stretch (hundreds of meters) of a southern tributary below the Villarica volcano. The termas is 17 km east of Coñaripe, accessible by a gravel road from Coñaripe. The road itself is facinating as it snakes along the Rio Llancahue, which has had lahars (mudflows) in its recent geological past. The road to the termas from the river road has a few small farms, while the cuts in the soil show evidence for repeated accumulations of ash from Villarica volcano. The termas has tens of individual pools whose temperatures are monitored through the day, with most at 35-39C (with the occasional pools closed due to overly high temperatures). The architecture is beautiful and simple -- a very relaxing place to spend a few hours.
