Baroosh (Marlow)

United Kingdom / England / Marlow / High Street, 56

The building is on the site of the old "Crown", a coaching inn, from which in the 18th and early 19th century "The Marlow Flier" started its twice daily service to London, completing the journey from Marlow to Hatchetts in Piccadilly in three hours.

Lloyds Bank was located here for more than 30 years until their lease was not renewed and they moved to 17 High Street. The site is now occupied by Baroosh, a restaurant with bar.

Comments

  • The coaching inn explains the large areas not built over behind the bank, which is where the coaching yard would have been. It is amazing such a large area of open land has survived to this day
  • The large open area at the back unfortunately is now gone with Lloyds bank moved away and new restaurant built on it.
