Pfaffroda Castle

The castle, first mentioned in 1512, was heavily destroyed in 1632 strong. Thus, the original building is no longer maintained. The current buildings date from the 17th Century. The main part of the courtyard was built already in 1678 by Caspar of Schoenberg again. From 1879-1936 lived there a local historian and writer Alfonso of Schoenberg, Since 1947, it serves as the retirement home.

    The retirement home was retired in 2017, together with the self- goverment of the village, which was annected by the town Olbernhau. Over 800 years of independence gone.
