Located in: Beverly Gardens Park

Built: 1931
Architect: Ralph Carlin Flewelling

At the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard is the “Electric Fountain.” The fountain got its unusual name due to the fact that it was the first electric fountain to be built in the United States.

The basin is 50-ft in diameter and detailed with relief carvings representing various events in California history. The sculpture atop the basin is of a Tongva woman praying for rain molded by the artist Robert Merrell Gage.

The fountain can be seen in the movie Clueless and in The Go-Go's music video for the song "Our Lips are Sealed."
