Site of enginehouse and shop of the 2 foot-gauge Gilpin Gold Tram which operated from 1887 to 1917. Across from the enginehouse, on the east side of Clear Creek, was the "warming house," a steam-heated stone structure 245 feet long, 28 feet wide and 7 feet tall. During the winter when the gold ore would freeze solid, the ore cars were placed inside this building to thaw out the ore before it was delivered to the various mills for processing.
