Rithala

India / Delhi / Nangloi Jat /

Rithala was established by Rana Rajpal Singh in AD 1384 during the reign of Sultan Feroz Shah Tughluk. Before the establishment of Rithala (old name Lathi Wala), Rana Raj Pal Singh's ancestors lived in the nearby village Pooth Kalan, which was established by his ancestors (Tomers from Patan) in AD 1048 when Delhi was ruled by the Tomer king Anang Pal 2nd. Pooth (old name Poothi)was destroyed and Rana Raj Pal's kith and kins (chauda i.e. fourteen Rana) were killed by Sultan Ala-ud-din Khilji (AD 1296-1316). Pooth was re-establidhed by another Rajput tribe of Solanki (now Jats). Therefore, Firoz Shah Tughluk granted the nearby land land to Rana Rajpal Singh.
