hotel, restaurant, office building
1970s office and hotel complex. Originally the infamous Scala Film Club (famous for the showing of all manner of 'naughty' productions) was based in here, and in the late 1970s was a key part of the New Romantic music scene. The famous band Spandau Ballet were discovered here and given their first record deal in 1980.
In 1981 the Scala Film Club moved up to its current site at the old King's Cross Cinema on Pentonville Road, and evolved into the present day Scala Club. Today the building is a mixture of offices, a hotel and a restaurant (called Le Scala, in reference to its original name).
