Mount Putuo (普陀山 Pǔtuóshān) is an island in Zhejiang province that derives its name from a sacred Buddhist mountain at the center of the island. Along with Mount Wutai, Mount Emei, and Mount Jiuhua are called China’s four Buddhist mountains.
