Jingting Mountain is located on the bank of the Shuiyang River to the north of Xuanzhou City. Poet Li Bai (699-762) was particularly fond of this mountain. When he was angry with the imperial government and extremely disappointed with his official future, he wrote:
Sitting Alone on Jingting Mountain;
All the birds have flown up and gone;
A lonely cloud also floats leisurely by.
We never tire of looking at each other
Only the mountain and I.

  • To Teresa, Please reinstate the name 敬亭山. Imagine if other users had marked that group of far-flung isles as 大不列颠 instead of Great Britain ? For translation , try this: 众鸟高飞尽 All birds departed, soaring into the sky. 孤云独去闲 Yon lonely cloud drifts unhurriedly by. 相看两不厌 Mount Ching-Ting stays; who else ne'er grows weary 只有敬亭山 Of me? -- Nor e'er be weary of, shall I?
