Kalimath Temple (Kalimath)

India / Uttaranchal / Kedarnath / Kalimath

This place is known as a shaktipeeth and for a temple of Mother Kaali. There is no idol of the Mother but a "kund" in which she resides. This temple was built in its present form only in latter half of the last century. There is a "khadg" at the temple which was established there in 1962 by Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ram, an Aghor saint with his main ashram in Padaaw,Varanasi. The place is situated on the banks of river Saraswati. Being a shaktipeeth, this place has been visited by many aghor saadhaks and other saints over the past many centuries. The population of the area is in a few hundreds, though now the number of households are increasing. Its a beautiful place no doubt and is an added incentive for the serious saadhak.
