This preserve is an artificial waterway created between 1911 and 1913, in an effort to protect the Lake Run Corridor. This section consists of wetlands, woodlands, grasslands and farmlans east of the Lake Run waterway. This landak was acquired by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County in an effort to eventually connect Dick Young and Aurora West Forest Preserve. 283 acres acqired in 2003 in Sugar Grove Township.
