The building's architect, Henry Bacon(1866-1924), also designed the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The former flagship Halle's Department Store was eventually redeveloped and reconfigured into 392,000 sq ft of office space by Forest City Enterprises.

The Halle Building was also used as the main location of the fictional Winfred-Louder store in The Drew Carey Show.

Actress Halle Berry, who was born and raised in Cleveland, was named for the famed department store.
