Three-Storied Octagonal Pagoda (Ueda)

Built in the end of the Kamakura period, this pagoda was designated a national treasure in 1952. The style iz known as Zen or Kara (introduced to Japan with the Zen sect).

Since the octagonal pagodas in Nara and Kyoto were destroyed, this is the only octagonal pagoda remaining in Japan.
