Broadgreen Hospital is a large teaching hospital located on Thomas Drive, in the suburb of Broadgreen, Liverpool, England, part of the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust. Broadgreen was first established as an epileptic home and later as a sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis in the early 20th century, when it was then known as Highfield Infirmary.
Following the bombing of city centre hospitals during World War II, and the introduction of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948, Broadgreen was expanded into a significant district general hospital. However, shortly after the Pan-Liverpool review of local health care provisions within the city in 1989 and the ongoing reforms of the NHS, the Conservative government of the time opted to close the hospital's Accident & Emergency (A&E) department and centralise the service elsewhere. Despite much opposition to the move, acute services at Broadgreen were significantly downsized as a result. All emergency and complex care was later transferred to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and all other cases diverted to neighbouring University Hospital Aintree and Whiston Hospital's A&E units. Instead, Broadgreen Hospital now acts as the main centre within Liverpool for all planned and elective general, urological and orthopaedic surgery, diagnosis and treatment. It also specialises in rehabilitation of the Elderly and in January 1996 a new eighty-bedded facility was opened on the site.
The site is also home to the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in cardiothoracic medicine and the Broadoak Unit of Mersey Care NHS Trust which specialises in mental health.

Bill Shankly, the former Liverpool Football Club manager, died at the hospital in September 1981 after suffering a heart attack.
Broadgreen Hospital also contains Liverpool's only broadcasting hospital radio service. Radio Broadgreen broadcasts live from within the hospital and broadcasts 50 hours of live programming a week through its dedicated team of volunteers
