North side (also called Karasuma-guchi side) building of Kyoto train station. The central ticket gate is located on the 1st floor and the underground central ticket gate is located on the 1st basement.
The current building was fininshed in 1997 and designed by Hiroshi Hara and sports an irregular cubic facade of reflective plate glass over steel, which makes it stand out from the more traditional Kyoto architecture.

East Zone: Hotel, theatre, etc.
Central Zone: Ticket gate, ticket office, central concourse, "The Cube" shopping complex (1F, B1 and B2), etc.
West Zone: Department store (1F-11F, B1 and B2), "The Cube" restaurants (11F), etc.
