George S. Pillsbury (1921-2012), of the Pillsbury milling fortune (whose former summer estate, Southways, is next door and no doubt where this property was carved from), resided here until his death. He was the grandson of Charles Alfred Pillsbury, the flour industrialist and the founder & namesake of the Pillsbury Company. George S. Pillsbury found his identity in politics, working to form a more inclusive Republican party in Minnesota and serving for over a decade in the Minnesota legislature. He represented what is now District 42, which included Hennepin and Wright counties, in the Minnesota state senate (1971-1982). General Mills (which bought Pillsbury Co.), calls him "one of the last in a line of civic and corporate leaders bearing the Pillsbury name." He has been a businessman in Pillsbury Co./Sargent Management Co./Munsingwear, Inc./Soo Line Railroad/Northwestern National Bank.

After his death the property went on the market for $5.49 million. Built in 1950, the 6,370-square-foot home features six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
