The Technological Institute was opened in 1942, and was the largest building on the Evansville campus at the time. The architect was Holabird & Root with McKim, Mead & White as consultant. It is home to the engineering department, as well as several other science departments. The original 1901 Patten Gymnasium, which sat just over 1,000 people, was located on the site, and was the location of the first NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, now known as the Final Four.
