Important 19th century Gothic Church. Dating mostly from a rebuilding of 1876 by Benjamin Mountfort this building originated from a structure built in 1857 which replaced an earlier cob church of 1855. The last traces of the cob structure were replaced by stone work in 1905 when the nave was constructed. Cyril Mountfort was in charge and he modified his father's designs.
Following the 2011 earthquakes the church has been deconsecrated. in early September the Church Hall was demolished followed by the church itself in late September. www.holytrinityavonside.co.nz/
