St. John's Institute is the school of choice of many Filipino parents as well as those of other nationalities. In 1961, a new edifice rose just behind the Chinese Catholic Center. This was the new elementary building. The building was completed in 1962.
The buildings took care of the temporal needs of the Chinese community. The Chinese Catholic Center provided a place where they could congregate.
