This is a small village, next to the Hout (spelling?) River Dam. No electricity yet, no paved roads, I'd guess about 1,500 people live there. Northern Sotho (Sepedi) is the language. There is a school there and some small shops, but I can't seem to get close enough to find them. I am 90% sure this is it, but can't seem to find the paved road that leads out of Peitersburg, through Sheshego, and past this village.

  • It is actually, Ga-Ramakgaphola Village.
  • Currently electricity has been installed, though not yet commissioned by Eskom. The village has more than (450)four hundred and fifty household. There is a pre-school known as Mabula, primary known as Moremi and high school known as Mamarama. The roads are not tarred however manucipal graders frequently upgrade the roads. The people in the village rely much on subsistance farming ploghing their fore fathers land planting Maize and rarely Sorghum. Some few huosehold still have cattles, sheep and goats. The village is approximately 30kms outside Polokwane and most of the people on this small village call themselves Banareng as part of their greetings.
  • There is high level of unemployment in the village and most community members still rely on wood as a source of fuel and energy. The level of education is below par with an average child reaching STD 10 and or Matric but being unable to proceed to Tertiary level. However there is a small percentage 0,3% out of approximately 1500 people who are graduates, mostly with teachers Diploma. An appeal is therefor made for people who have funds to donate especially in as far as burasries are concerned.Secondly there is a need for computers to help this impoverished village as well as building a health care facility in the form of Clinic.
  • An Update with regard to the village is that ESKOM has commissioned the electricity now and people are enjoying the light and the benefits of using electricity.
