The High School of José Estêvão is a centenary institution created in 1851, under art. 46 of the decree of September 20, 1844, Costa Cabral, who decided to create "a Liceu in each of the capitals of districts and dioceses of the Kingdom". The Education Liceal is slightly older: been created in 1836, the government of Passos Manuel. Our school is therefore one of the oldest schools in the country.
