The hotel was torn down to make a new 2,000+ space parking lot for the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The Landmark opened on July 1, 1969, ceased operations in 1990, and was imploded November 7, 1995. The Landmark was a tower topped by a large saucer; 365 feet-tall with 31-stories and 525 rooms. The implosion can be seen during the end-credits of the 2003 movie The Cooler and in Tim Burton's 1996 movie, Mars Attacks! when the Galaxy Hotel is destroyed by the Martians. Now currently set to be home to the newest expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center which broke ground in 2018
